UPCOMING Artists

Future Artist: Jessica Hellerstein

August 2024 - February 2025

About the artist: Jess Hellerstein is a Charlotte based artist who creates oil paintings, watercolors, and ceramics. She began studying art in 2014 after graduating with her bachelors degree in sociology and psychology. As an emerging artist, Jess focused on digital art in a low-poly and shape based aesthetic. Her style has evolved from digital art to impressionistic and contemporary paintings.  She uses color, dynamic shapes and line work in her paintings to express feelings and evoke an emotional experience.  Her newest series of oil paintings is inspired by low-poly florals. Her work is evolving and she is excited about her new pieces that have come “full circle” from her early digital style. Jess credits her color palette to “recycled paint and a dirty brush”.  Creating art that communicates and interacts with the viewer in a meaningful, personal, and unique way is essential to her work. When Jess isn’t painting or creating she enjoys reading, walking, seeing her family and friends, and being a dog mom.

Lee Campbell

About the artist: Although art in itself has never been even a remotely straight path with a guaranteed destination for me, the want to create is ever present. If I had to count on my hands how many times I’ve bought supplies with reckless abandon and no plan for the future, but a simple feeling; I would have to use all the creases in my palms and then some. There’s no grand backstory in the midst of all of this however- unless you want to count the watercolor pear I painted in the 2nd grade that my mom still has tucked away in a drawer somewhere. It feels odd to summarize my artistic experience when creating things is so ingrained into my everyday life, but if I had to I would say: I create what I want to, and what I can, and sometimes I fail at what I do best. But in those moments, I’m just glad I was given the chance to in the first place.

About the work: Love is a catalyst for most, if not all great things in life, and some would say it’s what keeps the world spinning on its very axis. So, to pay homage to the blissful, sometimes bitter, and deeply nuanced thing we call love- here is my attempt to encapsulate this widely subjective but universal concept from the headspace in which I feel it deepest.

Eileen Howe Covington

I have been an artist my whole life, winning my first competition when I was 10. Like for so many people life gets in the way and tries to muscle out the creative and artistic.   But true art in relationship to the soul will manifest itself somehow.  It may not be evident to the world or even to yourself but if it is not flowing out of you directly it is nearby and appearing in your world in a multitude of ways. My challenge daily is to let it flow unencumbered by rules, expectations and ridged demands of how it has to be.  Color outside the lines, think outside the box and stay in the flow. Remind myself and others of what is valuable in the world. Learn more here.

Manny Feo:

My name is Manny. I was born and raised in Venezuela but living in the Carolinas since 2008. When I was a kid, I bounced between being methodical and creative. Believe it or not! Even though my professional career did not lead to a creative world where I could express myself, I always strive to make a difference and think outside the box. Why is photography so important to me? Because it is a way to bring color to my black/white career! I love to be behind the camera, create memories, and think beyond my lenses. There is nothing impossible when you have it on your hands. My passion for photography raised to a new level when I traveled to Europe in 2015, and I met my happy place... The Netherlands. Since then, I carry a camera to capture the culture, landscape, and people of places I had been. Check out his work and support them here.

Jenny Love:

Jenny Love was the first artist to be showcased at Sanctuary Bistro Charlotte. She is also the photographer of the cookbook! Community, reciprocity, and attention are her focal points. You can learn more here.
